The Angel Inn is a small, but busy pub – it is traditional in style with an emphasis is on a casual, friendly atmosphere. We are looking for people with gregarious personalities and a can-do, self-motivating attitudes.

KITCHEN ASSISTANT

suit aged 16+ / student

While we downplay our foodie side of the business, this is an extremely busy side of our offering. Working alongside our cook, the duties of the kitchen assistant include:

  • Delivery and clearing of all items between kitchen to customer – this can and will include the garden

  • The preparation of all plates to assist the cook – this includes salad garnishes, condiments etc. that form part of the dish ordered.

  • Washing/Drying of all crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment used during that shift

  • Sweeping/mopping of kitchen floor at the end of the shift

 

The successful applicant must have the following traits:

  • A sense of urgency and the ability to work well under pressure – the kitchen can get busy, being able to prioritise and keeping up with the demand is essential.

  • A confident personality – you will be dealing directly with our customers; we are known for our friendly service, so we need someone that can uphold this reputation.

  • Self-motivating – if there is a lull in demand, we need someone who has the gumption to find other jobs to do. This may include, but not limited to, ensuring all sauce pots are fulfilled, wiping surfaces, collecting glasses, etc. so initiative is key.

  • Well presented – you are representing our business and therefore a pride in appearance is a necessity.

  • The ability to smile! Having a good sense of humour helps with the demands of the job, having rapport with other team members helps for a more harmonious atmosphere and helps keeps us all (in)sane!

Shifts available:

Fridays: 6pm-9.30pm

Saturdays: 12-2.30pm / 6-9.30pm (this shift currently filled)

Sundays: 12-3.30pm

Other ad-hoc shifts available on a Wednesday and Thursday evenings as demand requires.

BAR STAFF

casual hours - as required

An integral part of the Angel team, you will be one of the first people our customers see and meet so first impressions count.

Primarily working alongside other team members, your duties will include:

 

  • Greeting our customers on arrival. thanking on departure

  • Serving drinks (obviously!)

  • Taking food orders

  • Dealing with cash, card transactions

  • Collecting /washing glasses

  • Clearing/cleaning tables and bar, this may include cutlery and condiments if you get there first!

  • Re-stocking shelves/fridges as appropriate

  • Noting of any low stock

 

The successful applicant must possess following traits:

  • A sense of urgency – the bar can get busy, being able to work at speed is a necessity to keep optimum service and customer satisfaction

  • A confident personality – dealing with the public isn’t always easy and while we have a zero tolerance for bellends, there are times when we need to deal with them!

  • Ability to be a quick learner – including use of the cash register – full training will of course be given, but this is our also financial reporting, it is integral that this is correct

  • A friendly nature – you are representing our business – we are renowned for our friendly welcome and gregarious personalities, upholding this reputation is essential. You need to be able to leave bad moods and attitudes at the door!

  • Self-motivating – if there is a lull in demand, we want someone who has the gumption and initiative to find other jobs to do. “If three’s time to lean, there’s time to clean” – there’s always something to do, whether that be cleaning tables (including pool room and garden), a glass run, cleaning shelves or windows, updating shopping lists, taking out bins, restocking shelves, watering  the plants, replenishing loo rolls, whatever! All these jobs can still be done whilst being friendly and chatty to customers (the latter not so much!)

  • Well presented – you are representing our business and therefore a pride in appearance is a necessity.

  • Please always smile! Having a good sense of humour helps with the demands of the job, having rapport with customers  and of course other team members helps for a more harmonious atmosphere and helps keeps us all (in)sane!

 

Shifts are casual – i.e. we are looking for people that can be called upon when we know we will be short-staffed or the demand is there, This may lead to something more regular if required/desired or as future business demands.

 

Our opening times are:

Wednesday 5pm – 11pm

Thursday 5pm – 11pm

Friday 5pm – 12pm

Saturday 12pm -12am

Sunday 12pm – 11pm
